WATER SENTIENCE
This series is inspired by a lifelong relationship with the element of water, one that began in childhood dreams and has continued to flow through both my inner world and the landscapes of my heritage. Raised between Scotland and Ecuador, two countries rich in water's presence, I’ve always felt water as both a guide and a mirror.
These works explore water in all its forms: solid, fluid, and gaseous, each evoking a different emotional and energetic tone. The misty, ethereal areas reflect water’s dreamlike quality and its ability to shape-shift.
Through this body of work, I seek to give water a voice, one that whispers of memory, movement, and mystery. I invite the viewer to enter into quiet communion with this element and consider how its guidance might help us meet the challenges of our time.
SONIC SENSES
For as long as I can remember, music has been a compass in my life.
It’s carried me through grief and joy, shaped my dreams, guided me across creative thresholds and deeper into my meditation practice. My paintings emerge from that same current of feeling tones, each work a translation of sound into shape and colour. They are expressions of the invisible choreography between rhythm and breath, between what we hear and what we feel.
In my artistic, ritual, and ceremonial practice, music has been my most constant ally. It doesn’t just accompany my work; it shapes it…. teaching me to listen more deeply…. to match intention with movement.
The textures, gestures, and layers of this series of works titled Sonic Senses is my record of that exchange and attunement, an invitation to step inside the pulse.
FOREST DREAM
This series emerged from the forests of Ecuador, places I wandered through just after my father died. In that time of raw grief, the forest offered itself not as scenery but as a living, breathing companion.
In its quiet presence, anxiety softened and grief began to compost into something fertile. An imaginal space opened up for dreaming, creating, and reweaving my inner world.
Forest Dream is a visual meditation on that communion. These paintings attempt to trace that encounter, evoking the felt sense of being met by a sentient landscape, one that listens back.
Through this work, I’ve tried to honour the forest as a healer, guide, and co-creator. Each brushstroke is a way of listening, each form a gesture toward the mystery of what it means to dream and grieve with the Earth, and to be slowly brought back to life by it.
CAVE CONSCIOUSNESS
This series is born from my journeys into the Tayos Caves of the Ecuadorian Amazon. These vast, stone-wombed spaces have shaped my life in quiet, irrevocable ways. They hold the threads of my heritage: the legacy of my father’s work, my own footsteps echoing through the caverns he once walked, and the teachings shared through my time with the Shuar people, guardians of this sacred terrain.
The caves are not empty. They are brimming—thick with presence, with memory, with the breath of the Earth herself. Cave Consciousness is a visual invocation of this subterranean world, where the absence of light becomes its own kind of illumination.
Within the dark, the mind stills. The noise of the world softens. A different kind of listening becomes possible, one that tunes into signal rather than surface, into the dreaming intelligence that lives in stone, mineral, root, and silence.
These paintings are offerings to that descent. They trace the contours of inner chambers, both geological and psychic, where we are asked to let go of surface vision and feel our way forward. In these depths, something ancient stirs. The caves become thresholds into memory, into ceremony, into new ways of seeing and remembering. What begins as darkness becomes a sanctuary for vision.
Cave Consciousness is a return where we remember that the Earth, in her silence and shadow, is always speaking and dreaming with us.
